Dr. Jacinto Soler Matutes
Jacinto has a doctorate in economics from the University of Barcelona and a masters degree in the economics of emerging markets from the IFW, Kiel, Germany. He is a Professor at the School of East Asia of the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona (UPF) and for many years Jacinto has been an advisor on emerging markets to large Spanish companies and to specialist institutes linked to the Spanish Foreign Ministry such as Casa Asia and Casa Árabe.
Jacinto is the author of several books and more than fifty articles in the press including Expansión, Cinco Días, La Vanguardia and the Financial Times. Jacinto is also an adviser to the Catalan association of SMEs, PIMEC.
Ken is an experienced venture capitalist with more than 20 years in the financial sector, first in Brazil with Lloyds Bank Project Finance and thereafter in the UK and Spain as an investment director with 3i and Managing Director of Banco Sabadells PE fund. He has also worked as an independent consultant helping companies to raise capital.
In addition to the finance sector Ken has experience in international sales and marketing. Ken has an MBA from the IESE business school in Barcelona and graduated in Economic Science from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland.
Professor Sanjay Peters
Sanjay trained as an economist at California (BSc and MA) and the University of Cambridge UK (MPhil and PhD). In addition to teaching economics at graduate level at Cambridge University, he has also worked as an economic advisor to the foreign office of the UK Government, consultant to the World Bank and the United Nations Development Program. Sanjay is currently Director of the Centre for Emerging Markets at IESE Business School and Visiting Professor at Copenhagen Business School.
His main area of specialisation, and hence publications in academic journals and books are on emerging markets, with a strong focus on Asia.
